TRAINING ON ESTABLISHMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF CAREER CENTRES IN VET COLLEGES

On 23 April 2013 “Global Developments” Fund, with the support of the European Training Foundation (ETF) and the Methodological Centre for Professional Orientation (MCPO) organised training on “Establishment and Development of Career Centres in VET colleges”. The participants of the training were representatives from ETF, RA Ministry of Education and Science, RA Ministry of Labour and Social Issues, international experts, as well as nominated specialists from the 12 State Regional VET Colleges of Armenia who would support to the establishment and development of career centres in their colleges in the nearest future. During the training the participants introduced the current situation of career centres in colleges; the international expert made presentation on international definitions and content, as well as discussed with the participants what career guidance is and what opportunities and prerequisites there are for its introduction in the 12 State Regional VET Colleges. Participants discussed also prospective for further development and expected outcomes of the system.

ROUND TABLE ON VALIDATION OF NON-FORMAL AND INFORMAL LEARNING IN ARMENIA
26 April, 2013, Yerevan
On 26 April 2013 with the support of the European Training Foundation (ETF) and RA Ministry of Education and Science, “Global Developments” Fund organised a round table discussion on “Validation of Non-formal and Informal Learning in Armenia as a Tool to Assess Quality of Cooking Professionals” in Yerevan State Armenian-Greek College of Tourism, Service and Food Industry. Representatives from ETF, RA Ministry of Education and Science and other relevant institutions, as well as partner organisations including members of the Sectoral committee on Tourism and Services participated in the discussion. During the round table discussion ETF and international experts introduced European experience in VNFIL, the objectives and activities of the project, ways and methods of involving experts and representatives of industry. One of the topics of the discussion was competence-based assessment in restaurant business and its correspondence to VET qualifications. Practical activities and action plan on piloting of VNFIL mechanism for cooks were also discussed.

SEMINAR ON THE RESULTS OF TRACER STUDY OF ARARAT AND KOTAYK MARZ VET COLLEGES’ GRADUATES

On November 22, 2012 “Global Developments” fund, with the support of European Training Foundation (ETF), organised a seminar on “The Results of Tracer Study of Ararat and Kotayk Marz VET Colleges’ Graduates”. During the seminar the tracer study implementation methodology was presented, the results of the study were discussed, and the panel discussion gav an opportunity to the graduates, the directors of the colleges, and employers of the two marzes to express their own opinion on the occurring reforms, and, at the same time, the existing problems in the field of vocational education and training.

“EMPLOYMENT AND DEVELOPMENT”
21 November 2012, Yerevan
On November 21, 2012 “Global Developments” fund, with the support of European Training Foundation (ETF) and RA Ministry of Labour and Social issues, organised a seminar on “Employment and development” in “Ani Plaza” Hotel. The aim of the seminar was to present the RE Employment Strategy for 2013-2018. During the Seminar the current labour market situation, as well as the link between education and employment were presented to the participants. Representatives from EU Delegation to Armenia, first Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Issues Mr. Petrosyan and other Ministry staff, ETF as well as other relevant stakeholders’ organisations were participated.

ROUND TABLE “SKILLS FOR A MODERN ARMENIA”
18 October 2012, Yerevan
"A Seminar “Skills for a Modern Armenia” organised by “Global Developments” Fund with the financial and technical support of ETF in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science took place on 18 October 2012 in Ani Plaza Hotel with participation of the representatives of ETF as well as from the Ministries of Education of Moldova. The main objective of the event was to discuss on the findings of the review of vocational education and training that ETF carries out on a regular basis in co-operation with relevant national authorities through the so called “Torino Process”, which aims at identifying key policy trends, challenges, constraints, as well as good practice and opportunities. Representatives from RA Ministry of Education and Science, RA Ministry of Labour and Social Issues, from social partner organisations such as RA Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Republican Union of Employers of Armenia, Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen (Employers) of Armenia, as well as from main donor organisations such as UNDP, dvv international, Eurasia Partnership Foundation, GIZ and VET colleges were participated.
