TRAINING ON “ECONOMIC VALUATION OF ECOSYSTEM SERVICES: APPROACHES AND PRACTICE”

In the frameworks of United Nations Organisaton Environment project “Global Developments” Fund organised a free of charge training on “Economic Valuation of Ecosystem Services: Approaches and Practice” on 23-25 December, in Tsaghkadzor .

The participants of the training were the students, alumni and other interested people relevant to the very sphere. During the training participants gained information about the methods and mechanisms which help to value alternative variants of economic activity, in order to minimize the negative effect on ecosystem services.

 

TESTING OF COOKS' KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

18-19 November, 2013

On November 18 in the frameworks of VNFIL project implemented with the support of European Training Foundation (ETF) and RA Ministry of Education and Science the testing of cook candidates’ theoretical knowledge was organized. On November 19 the practical testing of cook candidates’ took place in “Ararat Hall” restaurant. The theoretical and practical testing were organised for the 5 cooks working in different restaurants but having no formal education and official qualification. The ETF representatives, namely Country Manager for Armenia Ms Milena Corradini, Labour Market expert Ms Gabriela Platon and international expert of the project Ms Elisabeta Mitroi, as well as representatives of relevant stakeholders also took part in the evaluation process.

DISSEMINATION EVENTS ON “ESTABLISHMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF CAREER CENTRES IN VET COLLEGES”

21-23 October, 2013

From 21 to 23 October 2013 in Vanadzor, Yerevan and Yeghegnadzor correspondingly, “Global Developments” Fund with the support of European Training Foundation (ETF), RA Minsitry of Education and Science and Methodological Center for Professional Orientation organized dissemination events for VET institutions on “Establishment and Development of Career Centres in VET Colleges”. Representatives from 12 regional state colleges as well as from other non regional colleges took part in these events. During the events the directors of non regional colleges introduced their activity towards the establishment of career centres in their colleges, and the career consultants of other colleges shared their experience in the field of the development of career centres. Besides, the “Guide for the development of career centres in VET institutions” was developed by the Methodological Center for Professional Orientation introduced and disseminated to the participants. Before summing up, the representatives of non regional colleges tried to get information on career centers' establishment process and related problems through asking questions to the representatives of those colleges which already have career centers.

 

ROUND TABLE OF VALIDATION OF NON-FORMAL AND INFORMAL LEARNING (VNFIL) WORK GROUP

TRAINING OF COOK ASSESSORS

19 September, 2013

On 19 September, 2013 “Global Developments” Fund with the support of European Training Foundation (ETF) organised Round Table discussion of the Work Group (WG) on Validation of Non-Formal and Informal Learning (VNFIL) in RA Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The topic of discussion was the pilot implementation of the VNFIL system. During the event ETF international expert Elisabeta Mitroi presented VNFIL principals and mechanisms which were discussed with the WG and relevant stakeholders. Then the specialists who are going to be assessors in the framework of VNFIL project were presented. The representative of the RA Ministry of Education and Science mentioned that, most probably, National Training Fund will be responsible for the assessment of non-formal and informal learning in Armenia.

That day the international expert Elisabeta Mitroi conducted training for the assessors of non-formal and informal learning. The participants also discussed some practical issues related to the cook assessment process.

 

TRAINING FOR VET INSTITUTIONS CAREER CONSULTANTS

17 September 2013, Yerevan

On 17-18 September 2013 with the support of European Training Foundation and Methodological Center for Professional Orientation (MCPO) “Global Developments” Fund organised training for career consultants of 12 VET institutions. During the first day of training the career consultants of 12 state regional VET colleges made brief presentations about the activity of career centers, and the international expert Chris Evans, after making comments on the presentations, with the help of the MCPO staff explained to the participants of the seminar what should the individual understand saying career orientation. In the second part of the first training day the handbook “Guide for development of career centers in VET colleges” developed by the MCPO was presented to the participants. It includes exemplary regulation of the career development unit, as well as job profile of the career consultant. After the presentation of the handbook participants of the training analyzed it by working in groups. 
On September 18 MCPO presented modules for non-formal training on career development, some of them were experimentally utilised by the training participants. After the group working and corresponding presentations the international expert presented development of entrepreneurial skills among students for enhancing self-employment and entrepreneurial learning as the way to gain ability for creating own business. At the end of the training the career consultants talked about further plans and activity of their centers.

 

CAREER FAIR

Yerevan, June 25, 2013

On 25 June, 2013 “Orientation, education and future job” Career Fair was organized by “Global Developments” Fund and Methodological Centre for Professional Orientation with the support of European Training Fund (ETF). VET institutions, various employers, as well as “State Employment Service” Agency took part in Career Fair. During the event VET institutions organised workshops on some of the most demanded professions in labour market, introduced the opportunities for getting vocational education and training, as well as the conditions of admission and learning. Employers who are included in VET colleges’ Governing Boards as well as other invited employers presented the most required jobs, together with some job descriptions. The event supported to raise the awareness about VET institutions and served as a good platform for education-labour market cooperation.

 

ROUND TABLE ON VALIDATION OF NON-FORMAL AND INFORMAL LEARNING IN ARMENIA

26 April, 2013, Yerevan

On 26 April 2013 with the support of the European Training Foundation (ETF) and RA Ministry of Education and Science, “Global Developments” Fund organised a round table discussion on “Validation of Non-formal and Informal Learning in Armenia as a Tool to Assess Quality of Cooking Professionals” in Yerevan State Armenian-Greek College of Tourism, Service and Food Industry. Representatives from ETF, RA Ministry of Education and Science and other relevant institutions, as well as partner organisations including members of the Sectoral committee on Tourism and Services participated in the discussion. During the round table discussion ETF and international experts introduced European experience in VNFIL, the objectives and activities of the project, ways and methods of involving experts and representatives of industry. One of the topics of the discussion was competence-based assessment in restaurant business and its correspondence to VET qualifications. Practical activities and action plan on piloting of VNFIL mechanism for cooks were also discussed.

 

TRAINING ON ESTABLISHMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF CAREER CENTRES IN VET COLLEGES

23 April , 2013, Yerevan

On 23 April 2013 “Global Developments” Fund, with the support of the European Training Foundation (ETF) and the Methodological Centre for Professional Orientation (MCPO) organised training on “Establishment and Development of Career Centres in VET colleges”. The participants of the training were representatives from ETF, RA Ministry of Education and Science, RA Ministry of Labour and Social Issues, international experts, as well as nominated specialists from the 12 State Regional VET Colleges of Armenia who would support to the establishment and development of career centres in their colleges in the nearest future. During the training the participants introduced the current situation of career centres in colleges; the international expert made presentation on international definitions and content, as well as discussed with the participants what career guidance is and what opportunities and prerequisites there are for its introduction in the 12 State Regional VET Colleges. Participants discussed also prospective for further development and expected outcomes of the system.
