On December 8, 2011 workshop for local stakeholders in tavush marz on labour market needs analysis was organised in Dilijan the main objective of which was to present to the local stakeholders the findings of the Report of the research on the labour market needs in relation to the skills and competencies of the specialists with vocational education and training (VET), with a focus on tourism and construction sectors in Yerevan in relation to VET offer, as well as making suggestions and recommendations which will contribute to improving VET for better meeting the labour market needs. |

ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE NATIONAL TRAINING FUND

Round table discussion on the establishment of the National Training Fund was organized in Yerevan, “Regineh” hotel. The main objective of this half-day round table was to discuss the operational aspects of the NTF in connection with fundraising policy and methodology and to come up with recommendations on possible sources of financing, investment and on establishing links with potential investors. |

ROUND TABLE OF THE REPRESENTATIVES OF DONORS WORKING IN THE FIELD OF VET IN ARMENIA |

On December 5, 2011 the round table of the representatives of donors working in the field of VET in Armenia was organized in Best Western Congress Hotel. The objective of this half-day meeting was to present and discuss the progress in VET reforms and contribution by donor organisations acting in this field in Armenia. Donors’ achievements and future plans were also presented and discussed with a purpose to better coordinate and compliment their activities.

On 09th November 2011 in Best Western Congress Hotel a National Seminar on Education for Sustainable Development was organised by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, UNESCO Moscow Office and UNDP Armenia with participation of the international organizations, governmental agencies, different education institutions and environmental NGOs of Armenia to discuss the issues of integrating the principles, values and practices of sustainable development into education. The main objective of this seminar is to raise the awareness in the country about education for sustainable development as well as to discuss and develop recommendations on how to incorporate principles, values and practices of sustainable development into all education and learning in Armenia. |

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “BRINGING EDUCATION AND BUSINESS CLOSER TOGETHER IN ARMENIA” |

On September 15-16, 2011 in Yerevan “Armenia Marriott” hotel an international conference “Bringing Education and Business Closer Together in Armenia” was held. The purpose of this conference was to seek input and expertise for VET reform through learning from European experience on effective models of education and business co-operation, in particular from Poland, Estonia and Austria as a tool for making VET an attractive education option, how to promote up-grading of the workforce through continuing VET as well as expanding the Armenian experience of management boards of VET institutions in order to strengthen social partnership.

TRAINING OF TRAINERS TO SUPPORT COLLEGE MANAGEMENT BOARDS |

"Global Developments" Fund (GDF) with support of the European Training Foundation (ETF) organised Training of Trainers to Support College Management Boards. The aim of the event was to present the boards members’ training needs, analysed based on the information obtained from the responses from the board members. During the training participants discussed the organisational issues of the board members’ trainings to be implemented by National Centre for VET Development as well as training provision methodology, curricula and training materials development.
